One day I found a place to drink and

Met a friend who had two friends there at the bar. One

A man, the other a woman I took to immediately

But she was married; and

To the other man.

All four of us talked theatre and other childish things. She

Mentioned she was published. He

Smoked and glanced at me as I spoke to her. She

Talked of future touring plans and

That they had a young child down south.

The night went on and places were closing, but

A desire to extend our adolescence kept in us, the men. She

as we searched for platforms, hailed a taxi, took it home

so her man could dance with other girls.
